So lovely being back at Venga. We felt very safe on arrival and during our time here. Tables well spread out and our waitress was in a mask / visor. Service from the table meaning we didn't need to come into contact with anyone either. Can't comment on food as we only had a couple of drinks. We look forward to coming back!!

Best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time. Excellent selection of good quality vegetables, beautifully cooked (we counted, I think, eight different veg, not including the potatoes). Given the portion size, it was also very good value for money. We were two people on an inside table with four seats and had enough room, but it would have been very cramped if we had been a group of four.

Disappointed to find the portion
previously given for 3 people for Sunday lunch, was the same as for 5 people, so I immediately asked for more. We agreed we would be happy to wait 15 to 20 mins; however, it came out in 3 different stages, so had to be eaten separately. Ambience
is somewhat lacking, just some nice music; Spanish preferably! This aside, we are fans of Venga & will be back.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. First visited just before Christmas and was blown away so had to visit again. I’m very fussy when it comes to a Sunday roast (husband produces an excellent one) and the Venga Sunday roast has to be up there as one of even possibly the best.
What can I say the food is delicious, plentiful and parsnips and cauliflower cheese are to die for! We are working our way through the meats after sampling beef and lamb, pork or chicken next time?
If you’ve not tried a Venga Sunday roast then you must.

I’ve always loved the vibe in Venga but this visit and my last one was heavily lacking in customer service. Both were celebrations. The last one there was also limited options available on the menu and we weren’t told when the kitchen was closing meaning we were still hungry, to make it worse the apology was extremely insincere. I know they can do better and I hope the service improves as I have been left really disappointed.

Service was shockingly bad. Ordered a selection of meals to share at the table, by the time the last thing came out, the first few were cold. Drinks were brought over one at a time. Last round of drinks were forgotten and they had to be reminded. Waitress couldn’t even do simple maths

Venga have done a marvellous job working hard to provide as close to a proper high quality tapas bar/restaurant as is possible in Covid time. The welcome was as warm as ever and though the usual comforting hustle and bustle was inevitably missing, you still enjoyed the quirky ambience. The food was superb and the unusual circumstances don't seem to have restricted the wide choice of tapas much, if at all. We didn't eat in the covered garden but had a look- it looks really good and will hopefully enable the restaurant to continue comfortably into the autumn and winter. We will be back

Wow!! What can I say. Run out of superlatives!! This was simply the best lunch so far Venga. I’ve never had beef that is so, so soft and yet still very pink. No steak knives needed here! And such a huge range of perfectly cooked and seasoned vegetables with a beautiful natural sweetness running through the meal from the small sweet vine tomatoes. Thank you Venga. The new way of presenting the meal really worked. The food stayed hot throughout the meal as we were able to eat our roast dinner, tapas style by serving ourselves from a huge central hot platter. See you very soon Venga!

This was a takeaway Sunday roast that I was really looking forward to after reading other great reviews. Sadly it did not live up to expectations. There was little meat with little flavour, the Paprika roast potatoes were dry and had a funny texture and flavour, total miss for me. I usually love anything with paprika. The gravy had a powdered texture.
On the plus side, the cauliflower cheese was delicious as were the greens. The delivery was prompt and the team were helpful on the phone. However for almost £17 I was disappointed and won’t be ordering again.

Service was very disappointing. We had to ask to order drinks & ask again to order food. An item was forgotten for our order that we had to ask for again. We were there for my daughters birthday & luckily her friends had come back from Uni to surprise her so this took away from the disappointing service.

The restaurant is small with only a couple of tables but it was very busy with people just coming in for a drink when we were there. That’s wasn’t a problem and it actually made for a good fun atmosphere on a Saturday night. However it also meant that the staff were very busy serving all the drinkers and as it was so busy they couldn’t see our table (and we could t get their attention) and so the service was very slow. When we got there we were shown straight to our table and given menus but no one came to take food or drink orders after 15 minutes so I ended up going up to the bar and asking if I needed to order food and drinks at the bar. The staff were apologetic and came over and took our food and drink orders quickly and the food and drinks then came quickly and it was fantastic. Especially the baked cheese and fish tacos. The staff were always polite with us, it’s just they were rushed off their feet with all the drinkers. I would suggest perhaps they assign someone to look after the tables and the perhaps those eating would get more regular service. When we finished our food and our plates were cleared we asked if we could order more food and menus were given to us but then another 15 mins went past and no one had come back to take our order and so we ended up just paying our bill at the bar and leaving. To be clear we had a great night, the food was delicious, it was a lively atmosphere and the staff were polite, there just wasn’t enough of them and it was frustrating having to wait / try to get their attention.

It was lovely to be back at Venga. Everything felt very safe and well thought out, without the measures taken being in your face or in any way spoiling the ambience. Although the tables being used were full, the place felt quiet and calm, and everyone was safely distanced. The food was gorgeous - we loved the new menu - and the service was great. Campbell is a charming host.

Very large portions. Lamb was good. I think having the booking at the end of service meant beef was a bit over cooked. Thicker slices would be better. Takeaway roast is never going to be the same as cooked fresh at home but as a special occasion it was lovely to have a really nice meal without the cooking and clearing. The Valentine red rose was a nice touch from Sarah Tynan.
