Inizio is a cozy, pasta-focused restaurant in beautiful Elmwood Village. Freshness comes first here—we make everything we can from scratch in our kitchen, and we haven’t begun cooking your pasta until the moment you order it. Our motto, “tutto fatto a mano” translates to mean “everything made by hand,” and we believe that the personal connection to the preparation process can be tasted on the plate.

Reservations for up to 4 people are available to book online. Reservations for 5-7 people are limited but can be made by calling the restaurant during our regular business hours. Food was delicious. Asked server (tall man with bun) questions and he would answer abruptly while walking away. I expect more for the prices we are paying. It was our anniversary and we had reservations. I asked if there was anything they did to celebrate that. They said no and yet our server gave the lady next to us a dish with candle in it. It’s the little things and that was a slap in the face. That’s too bad you don’t do a little something extra. We even would have paid for it. Wasn’t thrilled with our server but hostess Chantel was very nice. I did love the Prosecco toast. Nice touch but everybody got that so didn’t feel special for our anniversary. Thank you for listening.

Great food experience..beautiful resturant great food.the sangria was excellent on a hot summer night..we shared the meatball appetizer..thought very tasty but Could have been bigger..also no accompanying bread available..our entrees were excellent..made and tasted perfect..the servers were..very professional and even in unsettling times..did a great job..the complimentary prosecco was a very classy touch..highly recommended and will return soon

The overall taste was truly delicious. However, the temperature of the pasta was not as hot as it should’ve been. For the price, you expect the pasta to be piping hot at the time of serving. It was clear that the dish may have been sitting for a few/handful of minutes after being ready for serving, as the sauce had coated/congealed around the pasta. This surprised me, since the restaurant wasn’t that busy when we were there, not sure why it was waiting to be served? I almost mentioned something about the pasta being cold-ish to the server, but didn’t want to make a fuss. I settled on room temp pasta. By the time I finished my last bite, the pasta was for sure cold. The taste was great, temperature was for sure disappointing. There also could’ve been more sauce to run my bread thru. My husband mentioned that he felt like the portion should’ve been larger for the price as well. The drinks were good.

Some things need to stay on the menu. Since the initial News review, I've been hoping for pain d'épi, but it hasn't been available. It needs to be there all the time.
You should list your daily specials on the website, not just post pictures of them. It wouldn't hurt to keep some specials for a week so we'd have a chance to try them.

A fabulous meal in a comfortable and peaceful setting. Our party of four began with wonderful craft cocktails. One (very small) criticism is that the bar did not have the ingredients for a pretty common - though usually not in the evening - cocktail. High marks for our starters; the carpaccio was first rate and the mussels were pronounced outstanding. Our entree pastas were the highest quality. Perfectly cooked and sauced. One note - the Bolognese sauce could have used a touch more seasoning. We were too full on this visit to try dessert, but we will certainly be back. Five stars!

Top notch food and friendly, fast service, and the speed did not in any way take away from the high quality of the food. The appetizers themselves would be plenty for a meal with generous portions and lots of interesting options. The only feedback (which is personal preference) is that while we were seated by the window which helped with the lighting, the back of the restaurant definitely seemed very dimly lit, so when we go back (which we certainly will!), we’d probably try to reserve the seats where we can see better.

Hi! I love Inizio. I am Italian (born and raised) and I find Inizio to be the only place in Buffalo that resembles the real Italian dining style. I particularly appreciate the perfect portions of food that don't create leftovers or make you feel super full like most restaurants in the US. One thing I miss at Inizio is the bread. If you want to be an Italian dining experience, a tiny basket of complementary bread is a must. Your only bread option is a big puffy loaf for 8 dollars which is too much in my opinion. Other than that I'm very pleased by the overall experience.

Everything was lovely. I especially enjoyed my glass of Quattro Mani Barbera. the smoothest Barbera I have ever drunk, as well as the warm almond cake with saffron-orange ice cream. I had the creste di gallo pasta with the vodka tomato sauce, which was fine but not yummy. Next time I will try the tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce. I hope the Bolognese sauce is as good as my own!

Here is the email I sent the restaurant and I haven’t had a response:
I had dinner at your establishment this evening 11/2/22 at 5pm. The food was delicious but I was unhappy with the way I was treated upon entering the restaurant. I came with my service dog and was asked by the manager (young male) to provide proof that it was a service dog. This question is illegal and proof of service dog doesn’t actually exist.
As a fine dining restaurant, your staff, especially managers, should be up to date on appropriate and legal ways to address someone with a disability. I explained to the manager that he is allowed to ask me two questions. 1) is that a service dog? And 2) what two services do they provide? I was then informed that there were staff who were allergic to dogs. This was also not appropriate.
You charge on the higher end for food, so your staff should be informed. Not everyone’s disability is visible and I was made to feel very uncomfortable, and it ruined what could have been a very nice meal. My dog comes to work with me and is with me 24/7 to work and provide a needed service. Below I have included the ADA regulations and I strongly encourage you to contact your lawyers to confirm how to address those who enter your restaurant with service animals, as they will verify that your manager was inappropriate and discriminatory.

Feng Shui over Customer Satisfaction. Outstandingly disappointing evening. It was planned to be a very joyful occasion to celebrate a birthday, a retirement, and new job. We had to book two tables for 4 and 2 because the online would not accommodate a booking for 6. We spoke on the telephone and asked if the tables could be adjacent. We were placed at two of three tables at opposite sides of in a unique space. Ludicrous explanation that the hostess was told she would lose her job if the tables were moved and it would destroy the ambiance of the space. There was absolutely no attempt to reconcile the situation so we ate split into two groups. Still astonished by the attempt at being ostentatious.
