We loved the food - different with great flavours and it looked good on the plate. Service was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The only suggestion I would have is to add cushions to the chairs as they are a little hard and uncomfortable. Overall we loved our experience and have already recommended Dill to our friends.

We've lived in lewes for 30 years or so and this really was the very best meal we've ever had when eating out. From start to finish we loved everything we had to eat and the buzzy atmosphere and vibrant staff made us feel totally relaxed and at ease. the only thing we thought might improve things would be to be able to order wine by the carafe ........

I love that you get to try flavours and ingredients you’d never have thought of, and they are always delicious. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff if you have any questions about the food or just want some advice choosing drinks.

We absolutely loved our meat at Dill. All the staff were super friendly and obviously love their jobs. My only reservation was the desserts. We had the pain perdu, which was not to our taste. The croissant was a bit stodgy and the cheese rather strong. The pear and almond pie, the pear didn’t taste of much and there was little taste of almond in the pie. I hate to criticise, but just thought I’d share our thoughts. But we will definitely be back

Dill is what Lewes has needed for decades. Creative yet unpretentious dishes using unusual ingredients and locally sourced produce, all made with care. You can taste the love! We couldn’t fault the food or decide on a favourite dish (we had 6 small plates between us) and felt that it was good value for such amazing food.
The only thing that would have improved the experience and ambience was more ambient music, or none at all. Can’t wait to go back.

We come to Dill because we love the unusual flavours of your food . Ambiance and service are good, albeit ( understandably ) tables are small and cramped . It would be better if you could serve food in sequence ( eg. Fish before meat), but again it is understandable given your kitchen arrangements . Not cheap , but we have paid more for this quality food in other restaurants . When recommending you to friends the word we use is “ eclectic”. Overall , we love your food and that’s what brings us back .

I have deducted marks because we were not handed menus to peruse. Instead there was one giant A board which waiting staff lifted and moved around. Although we were the first to take out seats outside, the board was taken over to another party who arrived five minutes later and then took a long time to choose. The menu was across both sides of the board so it was difficult to see and select. The menu was also chalked up high on the wall inside but I felt in the way of others by standing there. I did photograph it but then it wasn't great having to read it out to the others at my table. It was difficult to get an overall idea of the offer. The result was we didn't choose well as there was almost zero carbohydrate in the dishes so we left feeling slightly hungry. We also felt the waiting staff found this system a struggle as they had to check back on our order as they don't use the traditional method of pen and pad, relying on memory instead. It all felt unnecessarily awkward. It would be better to put the focus on the food rather than new ways of menu presentation.

Our party enjoyed the food, which is unusual, varied and very tasty. However, the restaurant runs a strange serving system where you can order three types of plates but if you order a large platter, you will have to wait (as we did) for over an hour and a half for it to arrive. As a result, my 82 year old father didn't get to eat at all until 10pm while our smaller plates arrived early on. The staff did say that the large platters would arrive after the small plates but if it is going to be over an hour and a half wait from the point of ordering, this really should be explained to the customers. It was quite stressful as a result. The staff themselves were lovely but the waiting time - or at least explaining the time to the customers at the point of ordering - really should be addressed.

I love Dill and have been a few times with family and friends and the food is great, I did request this time well in advance that one of us was vegan but felt a little disappointed at the choice, maybe because it a summer menu so nothing substantial. We were a group of 6 and had a wonderful meal. The only tiny comment was that the music just wasn’t right for the atmosphere of eating a meal - just a bit more chilled vibe would have been a 10/10!

Some minor criticisms: Personally, I am not a fan of small plates and sharing platters. I like my own starter, main and pudding. I am also not a fan of waiters sitting at the table as if they are old friends of mine, however friendly and charming they are. Not keen either on overlong explanations of dishes while they are sitting there getting cold. That said, the food was unusual, elaborate and delicious, the service was very friendly and pleasant and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Would revisit.

The food is absolutely amazing here and the service was very friendly. It’s a lovely lovely spot that I’ve already recommended to many. The only thing I’d flag is the noise levels from a speaker. It was far too loud as the acoustics in the restaurant aren’t good. We waited too long to ask for it to be moved/ turned down. We’ll be back!

We absolutely loved our lunch at Dill! Delicious food and really interesting combinations which worked really well. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help with gluten free dishes/adaptations. Loved the sharing experience.
Wonder, if with notice of being gluten free, gf bread could be available but nothing detracted from the great food!
Looking forward to going back very soon.
