It had been a while since we had been to Panis. We met with friends that we hadn't seen for 16years. We had an amazing lunch and what was especially great was that even when we had finished eating we were in no way rushed to move off the table.

We arrived a few minutes before mid day in rain! We were ushered in and taken to,our table where we were informed they opened at noon and we would have the table for 2 hours. We waited for our friend to arrive and ordered about 12.30.
Food is excellent and wine by the glass is reasonably priced. We were again informed at 2pm that our 2 hours was over! But we were paying at that point so had no problem bacatingnthe table. Enjoyed our visit, Just wish we lived nearer in otder to,eat there more often.

Fabulous lunch with 7 friends before the theatre. Such friendly, welcoming staff. I had made a list of food and drinks we wanted so we were served very quickly allowing us to have a very relaxed lunch with time for dessert!

My partner and I went to Panis to celebrate our 4th year anniversary, (we are both ancient) and had the most wonderful time. Given such a warm welcome, (I had been overseas for sometime) and as we like to eat early it is almost impossible to get a table around 6 unless one books a few weeks ahead). After the warm welcome we were shown to 'our usual' seat and were looked after immediately, and served our favourite wine. We both chose something of the Special menu and had a fabulous meal with an exceptional dessert (pistachio ice cream with matching liquor). It was so amazing a bought a bottle of the liquor to remind of a wonderful evening.

I’ve been visiting Panis since 1997 when I used to live in Newcastle and later Gateshead. To me, it is perfect and I eat here whenever I’m visiting from Edinburgh. A proper gem of a neighbourhood Italian restaurant!
