I’d not been to The Fig for quite a while so it felt like a new experience. We both chose a selection of tapas, all of them good, especially the calamari - really crispy - and portions were quite generous. Four lovely giant prawns for instance! Service was cheerful and friendly. Sitting in the courtyard under the shade of the fig tree it was a really lovely experience in the heat of the day. The bill was very reasonable for good quality food, cooked to order.

Having never been the The Fig before my family and I were so impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the excellent service. We each ordered different things that were all delicious. The Fig is decorated in a trendy and cosy way inside and all the tables were full so there was a great atmosphere inside. Will 100% be returning to The Fig, either for brunch again or for an evening meal. Thank you!

It was a Saturday night and the 2 waiting staff were pretty rushed off their feet, which meant slower than expected service but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't spoil our experience and it is a testament how popular this restaurant is. Having a choice of a typical 3-course dinner or a tapas-style small plate sharing meal is a great idea; we opted for the latter and had 3 plates in one sitting and 4 in the next. Calamari was lightly fried so tender to eat; we absolutely loved the chicken wings and the Parmesan fries were good - then we saw the Japanese style fries go to another table - they looked even better so must try those next! The glazed pork belly was very tasty if a little chewy, not too sure if it was double cooked to make it more tender. The wine list was small but a great selection of wines - a decent white Burgundy in a small restaurant was a surprise, as was the price and it tasted delicious. Great value too, prices were keen right through the menu and as mentioned before, the wine list was surprisingly good and good value too. Definitely must return to try the other dishes we left out.

Fantastic staff, food and ambience! Busy Friday night but the staff were really attentive and food "top notch" I ordered 3 tapas as I thought I would get 3 dishes for £18 but, I think due to ordering one of the tapas "specials", that this offer didn't apply. I was being treated so that was why I chose the offer. Final bill was only £3ish over what I was expecting my host to pay, so I don't feel too bad!! It was so delicious. Will definitely book again if we are ever in the area. Thank you for a lovely evening with fantastic vibe.

Very friendly staff. Wondered what the point on the online booking was of me saying it was a birthday celebration and then no reference at all on the evening. How about a candle in the panna cotta? Ordered tapas, lamb koftas though lovely were missing the tzatziki? And my son’s vegan aubergine chilli seemed very small compared to everyone else’s meal. Felt that there was a big thing about it being a vegan friendly restaurant and yet the choice wasn’t that great. Having said that my meal was ok and apart from the waitress handing me a plate so hot it burnt my hand we had a pleasant evening. Felt a little sorry for the vegan birthday boy so not sure whether we will try it again or not. Bit disappointed because I had heard such good things.

We had a lovely time with really tasty food and a lovely waitress. The only downside was we tried to order another couple of Tapas dishes at 8:15 and they had already closed the Kitchen! If they had told us the Kitchen was closing so soon, we would have booked an earlier table (we sat down at 7:30). Everything would have been a 10 if not for this issue.

This was our first visit to The Fig and we loved it. It’s a small venue with a limited menu but this is good, everything is done beautifully. The food was delicious, we chose the tapas and desserts. I think we also had the best table, upstairs at the back, quiet and with comfy sofas! Finally, there was a young waitress, 16 I believe, she did very well, I think someone complained about her but we thought she was great and her boss/manager was very welcoming and friendly. Oh and it’s nearly all gluten free and vegan, we’re neither of these but appreciate this makes The Fig inclusive and everything was delicious. Well done!

Serving drinks that aren’t complete eg cocktails with half the ingredients and not informing us they don’t have ingredients and still wanting to charge ( not good) this should have been stated before ordering , there was only two tables of dinners when we arrived and service was very slow , food was ok but will not be returning ! Wonderful experience at The Fig, firs time going there and will definitely be back. We went on Saturday and the rain/storm started just after, their bookings were full for inside and so we had booked for outside. Well the rain last torrential and the staff were do kind and said they couldn't let us be outside in that and very kindly found us a table inside and contacted future bookings for that day to push them back. The menu options were fabulous especially as I am dairy free and my mum gluten. The only downfall was the wait as it was a little longer than we liked but you can tell that it's cooked and prepared with care! Can't wait to go back already!

As much as we like visiting the Fig, we weren’t too keen on being sat next to a table of four with two dogs, one of which was not very controllable. It’s owners, whilst trying to contain it, let it eat off the table. So although this is not your fault it was not very pleasant for us sitting at the next table and not very hygienic. So perhaps something could be done about this as animals have a place in our lives, but not that. We will probably eat in next time if this can’t be addressed, which would be a shame. Thank you for reading

Excellent food, pleasant situation, great service from attentive staff. Two very minor grumbles: (1) hot drink (mocha) not really hot enough and (2) it was a chilly day and with customers going in and out, we kept getting a blast of cold air and never really got warm enough. Would prefer to sit upstairs next time (maybe, although I haven’t seen upstairs… )

Lovely food! Upstairs, one is very conscious of the toilet and people waiting outside. Might be better if there was a partition dividing the toilet area from the upstairs eating area. Hope this is helpful.

Lovely place to eat on a summer evening in town. Menu has errors (eg lime, instead of lamb!), two mains were not available or the wine we wanted. However, the wine suggested as an alternative was fine. The radicchio was difficult to deal with as it was all in one piece and very hard to cut. It would be good if the menu and the website could corrected.

Our server gave good advice on portion sizes and luckily, most of the dishes were designed for 3 to share. The food overall was great, especially the gambas and the loaded fries. Next time, we must all try the dessert. Looking forward to making use of the outdoor dining once it gets warmer.

It’s clear they have staffing problems as they were turning walk-ins away when they had loads of tables. Food and service was good, but by the time we were 10 mins into our meal the very small restaurant was empty, which does not make for a great experience. A shame cos it put a dampener on the evening. We could have sat at home on our own and saved the money!!

Lovely place. Little bit quirky, menu a bit different but absolutely delicious. Friendly waitresses. Were given warm bread and olives as there was a bit of a wait. Definitely go back. Well worth a visit.

Excellent service, good ambience (music was definitely our era) I felt the tapas could have been improved upon, eg cauliflower (in my opinion) was bland, check out the Engine at Sowerby Bridge, enginesocial.co.uk , their cauliflower dish is amazing!

The food was overpriced for what we had and not very tasty. We had 6 small plates. Felt like everything was just cooked from bought frozen items. About £7 for 3 of the minutest bits of hard bread with a bit of tomato on top is ridiculous and is not Bruschetta by anyone's thinking. The chicken wings were anaemic looking with a bit of BBQ sauce dribbled over them. And having to pay a £10 deposit each is bad enough but to lose one for a sick friend when I cancelled the day before is deplorable. We won't be going back.

Attentive fast service. Problem with a blinking light bulb was resolved. Burger bap was a bit plain and the lettuce within very wilted from the heat. However, will return as the place felt comfy and welcoming.

We were greeted & shown to our table. Service was quick without being hurried. Food choice was good & what we had was very nice & appetising. Attentive staff. My party of 4 all said they would come again, to The Fig for a meal. May try lunch next time.

The place is stunning . Loved the garden and the staff didn't hesitate to put the heater on for us even in the energy crisis We had the hot dog . It was probably the best I'd ever had . Everything seasoned perfectly. Gorgeous wine too. It was our wedding anniversary so really pleased it met our expectations ( travelled from Bristol )

Lovely staff! Great food and plenty of it. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves which gave us privacy (a party of four). The only thing I don't like is the way the toilet opens directly onto the dining area.
